Old News

though still impressive, worth the read.

June 3-4

 CFA Show

Stoughton, Wi.

showing.......

 Rufus,

 and introducing

"Zena's Will"

Rufus was well recognized as a Best Champion throughout almost all judging rings earning his grand points. He was invited into 2 finals for Best of All-Breed, making 10th best cat and 5th best longhair cat.

Good Job Rufus

Will's First Show!!

Will was a good boy at the show. He was not afraid, sat up front, explored the idea of disassembling the cage and waving to the cat next to him and judges. He would have preferred to get out and play. Some judges take that time, some do not.

Zena's Will made us proud as he received recognition within the judges rings by receiving Best of Breed 2 times and 2nd Best of Breed once. Not shabby for a 17 week old kitten against much older kittens. Kittenhood is until 8 months of age, after which older kitties are considered adults.

 Good Job Will!

Gypzy was awarded  2 best mainecoon ribbons and also finaled in 2 rings at the ACFA show in Stoughton, Wi.  July 16. Gypzy was the 4th Best All Breed kitten and the 5th Best Long Hair kitten. Good Girl Gypzy. The girl who feels like a boy.  (that's a good thing! ;-)

July 9-10 Milw. Wi.  TICA show

Maxx entered his first TICA show as a 9 month "open", meaning he had no status, or earnings in this cat association. We quickly met friendly people, fellow showmen, and judges who made comments about Maxx's incredible boning and wonderful blue, rich with "patina" (oatmeal colored) undertone.

Maxx brought home the following:

4 BEST MAINE COON RIBBONS!!!

1 THIRD BEST LONGHAIR

1 FOURTH BEST ALL BREED

1 THIRD BEST ALL BREED

1 BEST CAT ALL BREED!!!

(did I mention that we are very proud of Maxx?)

Maxx and Gypzy attended the ACFA show in Indiana on June 25. Gypzy, at her first show and first away from home, seemed quite uninterested in the whole thing. Maxx on the other hand, came out of his shell as one judge decided she would sing "Born to Be Wild" and help him dance. He seemingly enjoyed that and strutted after that ring. He earned his championship ribbons in ACFA that weekend, but best of all brought home 1 second best of breed and 1 best of breed ribbon. He was also awarded 3rd best all-breed cat. Good job Maxx, next time Gypzy!

Maxx earned his championship at the CFA show in Milwaukee May 29, 2005!

Maxx also was awarded 6 best champion ribbons,1 second best champion ribbon, 2 best of breed ribbons, and finaled in 3 rings making himself 3rd best all breed, 3rd best longhaired champion, and 2nd best cat.

These were awarded him on June 4-5 at the Stoughton Wi. show. Good recongition for an 8 month old boy shown against 47 other champions, he being the youngest.
This is a good start on his road to becoming a Grand Champion!

Once again.....good job Maxx, and thank you!

"Old News"

from the year's beginning

Rockford Ill. ACFA Cat Show

Feb.5-6

Maxx was awarded the Second Best of Breed this weekend. This is a nice recognition for the first show. As a kitten, the class consists of ages 4 months to 7 months 29 days of age. At 8 months a kitten transfers into the adult class. Maxx was one of 3 youngest in a class of 12 Maine Coon kittens. It is sometimes difficult to compete with kittens almost 2 times the age. Maxx has an incredible coat. Maybe too incredible! Can that be?

Zena has a great head as well. We hope to think that females will be equally recognized. Although she had many nice comments made of her boning and wonderful head, she came home empyhanded. Better luck next time Zena! It was still a good experience.

Coongratulations to all, it was a nice show!

March 19-20

ACFA

Friday morning as I bathed the 2 cats entered for show, Boomer, my beloved retiree cried like a baby and banged on the door. Could I let him feel so left out? NEVER.............so open the door, he jumped into the tub, happily took his bath and loves to be blown dry. He has not been shown in a year. As I took out the cages to leave, he layed on the couch and watched.........never moving a muscle  (there was a time when he would hide). As I got Maxx and Zena into their cages, Boomer looked pitifully at me and slowly got into his much larger cage and layed down. Now you know the rest of the story.........or I will tell you!

Zena became a Champion this weekend, Maxx is just beginning to dig showing. (to the max!) He rolls all over me when I pick him up from his rings. It is pretty schmultzie but I like it. We gather up his ribbons and wait until his next ring. Maybe just a bit of a brag, but it is for him, as they do it themselves by being first of all, striking to look at, personable and polite to the judges, and also lets not forget the ability to charm with intention!  I do believe Maxx will do well! He finaled in 4 rings. It was an incredibly large and wonderful maine coon weekend. All cats were beautiful so the competition was right in our face. Maxx came home with 6 best maine coon ribbons, and more importantly 4 rosettes. These are the ribbons from rings that included all breeds, not just maine coons. That means that 6 out of 8 judges found him to be the best of the maine coon kittens being shown that weekend and the rosettes were competition among all breed kittens that weekend. His placements were 3rd best, 6th best, 7th best, and 10th best kitten out of all the kittens in the showhall that weekend. We feel very honored. Maxx worked very hard. Thanks Maxx!

Zena, my beautiful silver classic girl, became a Champion this weekend. She is trying hard to show, but is now interested in boys so cannot make up her mind if she is happy or not. When she acheived her necessary ribbons, she was allowed to take the next day off and just lay around with Maxx and her new toys.  I feel that my cats deserve to rest if they do not truly enjoy being shown. She was less than thrilled, so she took Sunday, the day of rest off! We are proud of her for her winnings this weekend. All that primping paid off Zena, now you may rest my princess!

Boomer totally enjoyed being at the show. He regained his place with pride! If a cat could be said to smile, he smiled! Oh how he smiled! He layed out on the carpeted platform and talked with passers by. He played for them, stretched his large and beautiful body for them, and much to the amazement of some, nuzzled and licked faces and hands. Now that was a weekend not to be surpassed, as this boy has truly stunned me once again. He "told me" that he wanted to be included, he "told me" that he missed our weekends together, and he "told me" that all I had known in my heart to be true was very "real". That I have ever felt such pride and joy seeing him enjoy himself again, I cannot remember. Thank you Boom, for enriching my life so!

(listen to the kitties, as they have much to say if we only hear)
