Dzcoonz is a small in-home cattery located just miles from Madison Wisconsin . Our kittens are raised under foot to bring you the best of socialized personalities. We strive to breed healthy, large, shaggy coated Maine Coons with loving and gentle personalities.
Our cattery is registered with CFA (Cat Fanciers Association), ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association), and TICA (The International Cat Association). We actively show in CFA and TICA.
We participate in the voluntary cattery inspection programs yearly, and have been certified as a Cattery of Excellence and Outstanding Cattery.
We feed Royal Canin dry foods and Wellness wet foods. We also are integrating raw feeding using Feline Future Instincts. We do not cut corners, and believe in providing the best of medical care prior to your kittens coming home to you. They have been examined at least 2 times by my veterinarian, and have also been examined by specialists in their field should there be a need. Each kitten will have a health record from our veterinarian and a health certificate may be provided.
Our cattery is microsporum canis negative and FeLV negative.
Maine Coon males average between 12-18 pounds, and the females between 8-12 pounds. The colors that we produce are silver, blue, brown, cameo, red, with or without white. While our goal is to create show quality kittens, we will usually have beautiful pet quality kittens available. All kittens will be a good representation of the breed. Kittens are allowed to go to their new homes when they have completed their immunization schedule (Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia) and are well acclimated to both the litter pan and scratching post. Depending upon each kitten's individual development, the average age at which a kitten can go to its new home is 12-14 weeks. We neither recommend or encourage the use of FeLV or FIP vaccine. Neither vaccine is necessary for indoor-only cats, and the FIP vaccine has not been proven to be preventative enough to warrant its usage.
The price of our pet kittens is $700 which includes our health warranty and veterinary health certificate. This does not include show or breeding rights. Each kitten is sold with a contract to include spay/neuter agreement. No kitten will be declawed. Registration papers are provided upon written verification from your veterinarian that the surgery has taken place. We do not allow declawing of our kittens. Our cats and kittens are SMA negative, having been verified by DNA genetic testing, Michigan State University.
Our breeding cats are tested annually for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). They are also screened for Hip Dysplasia (HD).The HCM screening is performed at the UW Wisconsin by Dr. Rosemary A. Henik DVM,MS, Dipl ACVIM (internal Med.) Clinical Associate Professor Cardiology/ Int. Med. or Dr. Hattie Bortnowski, DVM, Dipl ACVIM (internal Med.) Mobile Veterinary Diagnostics.
Disclaimer: Screening for HCM is currently the recommended method to aid reducing the incidence of this genetic condition in our cats. Breeders can not guarantee that their cats will not have this condition. However, we can guarantee that we are dedicated to screening our breeding males and females in a continued effort to produce healthy and sound Maine Coons to the best of our ability. Verification of each cat's echo may be found by clicking on individual links to their specific page.
The current DNA test can identify only 1 of many genetic components responsible for producing HCM. To date, there are many questions and concerns surrounding these findings. This is merely a tool, not a definitive test for HCM. We have done our DNA testing,(Washington State University) and shall continue on with yearly echos in order to maintain the integrity of our breed program.
